Summary of Position
The F&B Assistant Manager oversees F&B operations and delivers outstanding hospitality to all of our guests, showcasing their passion for hospitality, food, and wine together. Building a thorough knowledge of our menu and products to ensure our guests feel welcome, informed, and leave with their expectations exceeded. Must possess a positive attitude, confidence, patience and an ability to think quickly whilst managing many tasks simultaneously.
Specific Duties & Responsibilities
- Ensure the opening and closing procedures are completed and assist staff when needed.
- Check on-call shifts and let staff know if they are needed
- Hold daily pre-service meetings
- Communicate important information from the kitchen to the rest of the team
- Assign server sections fairly and equitably.
- Delegate tasks to restaurant team members and supervise their performance.
- Address guest queries.
- Ensure guest satisfaction and gracefully handle any conflicts or complaints.
- Help team members resolve on-the-job challenges.
- Enforce quality and outstanding Lightfoot & Wolfville hospitality standards.
- Balance cash and POS systems at the end of shift.
- Secure the building at the end of shift by locking all doors and setting the alarm.
- Ensure all staff receive proper breaks and their roles have been covered
- Assist with the training, onboarding and development of staff
- Work with Food and Beverage Manager to manage staff work schedules
- Ensure a fully stocked inventory and communicate ordering supplies as needed
- Comply with, follow, and enforce all Lightfoot & Wolfville health and safety policies and procedures.
- Act as an ambassador to Nova Scotia’s food and wine culture with personal experience and recommendations.
- Develop comprehensive understanding of Lightfoot & Wolfville wine portfolio, business pillars and philosophies, and outstanding hospitality standards.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications and Experience
- 2 years or more of supervisory or management experience
- Proficiency in English, multilingual (specifically French) considered an asset
- CPR First Aid Certification desirable
Knowledge and Skills Requirements
- Customer focused approach and patience
- Basic knowledge of wine or a keen interest in wine
- Good knowledge of restaurant operations (e.g. managing reservations, payments, POS)
- Problem solving and decision-making skills
- Proven work experience as a food & beverage server in a supervisory role
- Basic math skills
- Attentiveness and patience for customers
- Ability to manage complaints with professionalism
- Strong organizational and multitasking skills, with the ability to perform well in a fast-paced environment
- Active listening and effective communication skills
- Ability to work long hours while standing
- Excellent organizational and team management skills
- Team spirit
- Flexibility to work in shifts and ability to work days, evenings, weekends and holidays as needed

Salary: $16.00-$19.00 per hour
