Camp Glenburn:

Since 1928, the YMCA's Camp Glenburn has been empowering youth through outdoor education, uninhibited creativity, skill development and communal living. Our mission is to strengthen today's youth by giving them the tools, confidence and compassion to become tomorrow's role models and leaders.


Camp Glenburn is a non-denominational camp, open to all. Located on 30 acres of land on the beautiful Belleisle Bay, Camp Glenburn offers something for everyone to explore. Climb high ropes, go on a canoeing adventure or spend the evening stargazing.


The Opportunity:

As part of the Resource Staff Team, the Programing Director will be responsible for the delivery of quality staff and CIT programs for all Camp Glenburn participants, by overseeing the planning of fun, organized, original camp programs and carrying out end of program debriefs.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for assigning Interest Group Instructor's and Cabin Activities selections with assistance from Resource.
  • Responsible for working with Out-tripping Director, GAP Director and Head Cook in delivering a weekly staff duty schedule and kitchen numbers.
  • Responsible for overseeing arts & crafts/dance/drama Interest Groups.
  • Responsible for the care, safety, storage and inventory of all program equipment and supplies.
  • Responsible in assisting in the development and implementation of camp-wide emergency procedure.
  • Responsible to participate in the planning implementation of a staff training program for all counseling staff.
  • To assist in other Camp operations as requested by the Camp Director.
  • To submit a final report to the Camp Director prior to the completion of the tenure.
  • To strive to ensure that every child who attends Camp Glenburn is treated with respect, understanding and compassion.
  • Responsible in ensuring that Camp Glenburn remains a peaceful, positive and educational environment for all its campers, CITs staff, resource and guests.
  • Understands and complies with the New Brunswick Child Care facilities standards, Child Protection Practices.
  • Each resource member is expected to be a positive role model in all aspects of camp life, being particularly conscious of personal behavior including dress, speech, etiquette, and relationships with others
  • Responsible for facilitating Interest Group block transitions and ensuring all participants arrive to their Interest Groups safely by coordinating with Interest Group Instructors
  • Responsible for providing assistance in planning camp programs, and providing feedback and suggestions to counsellors about their programs and activities.
  • Allocating all campers to Interest Groups based on the Campers’ preferred choices each week.

Skills and Qualifications:

  • Ongoing or completed Bachelor's Degree, Community College diploma or similar from an accredited institution.
  • Previous experience in a Day Camp or Youth Program setting.
  • C.U.I Certification on high ropes and climbing wall considered an asset.
  • N.L.S and N.L.S Waterfront Certification considered an asset.
  • Pleasure Craft Operator Card considered an asset.
  • Flexibility regarding assigned working hours, site locations.
  • Strong work ethic and excellent organizational skills.
  • An excellent team player able to share cooperative leadership with other staff.
  • Strong communication, customer service skills, a team player.
  • First Aid/CPR certification.
  • Valid Class 5 Driver's License

Required:

  • Employment is contingent on having a clean Criminal Record Check with Vulnerable Sector Search.
