About us Nelvin Drama Academy is a Markham kid drama school that provide drama, acting and public speaking classes to kids aged 4 to 12 years old. We produce theatre show twice a year with set designs and costumes where parents and guests come see the grand spectacle. We also love collaborations! In the past, we have collaborated with local art schools such as The Singing School, Eyes on Mi Fashion Design shool as well as Central Park Public School where we put on a variety of different shows. Our work environment includes: Comfortable and flexible classroom (you get the whole room to your self without being micro-managed by the employer) Lesson plans (we already have all the lesson plans planned out for you so you don't have to worry about planning them!) Website: www.nelvindramaacademy.com JOB 1: Trillium School Drama teacher This is a once a week afterschool drama program at a local private elementary school called Trillium School (14th and Kennedy - Markham). You only teach once a week for an hour. Responsibilities: Teach a 60 min group Junior drama class (grade 1 - 3) every Friday at 4PM-5PM Total of 15 weeks from Feb - June Lesson plans and materials are provided. However, we want you to come prepared so you know how you are going to teach these materials well in advance. *Priority hiring given if you live within 15 - 20 min by commute Rate: $1170 by project (equivalent to $50/hr + $20 transportation fee every time + 4 additional hours of prep at the rate of $30/hr) Duration: Feb 2024 - June 2024 (Start date: Feb 9th) You will be rehearsing Jurassic Park and using Device Theatre and Improv to recreate the scenes with the students. The final performance will be at the school gym in front of all the students, teachers and parents! and guess what? The script will be 100% original and hilarious! Website: www.nelvindramaacademy.com JOB 2: Public Speaking Teacher This is a once a week Public Speaking classes at Maverick Learning Centre (Denison and Warden Ave, Markham). You only teach once a week for 2.5 hours. Responsibilities: Teach two 75 minutes classes (kids are between the age of 7 - 13) every Saturday at 4PM-6:30PM Total of 17 weeks from Feb - June Lesson breakdown (timeline) and reference materials are provided, but you will need to create specific lesson plans for yourself *Priority given if you live within 15 - 20 min by commute Rate: $2160 by project (equivalent to $40/hr + $20 transportation fee every time + 4 additional hours of prep at the rate of $30/hr) Duration: Feb 2024 - June 2024 (Start date: Feb 3rd) You are going to be teaching debates and public speaking. In the end of the term, the kids will on the stage of Yordwoods Theatre and do a public debate competition and speeches with a huge audience. Your goal is to make sure all the kids are ready for the final performance, this is in June.
